So, I was watching
Star Trek: The Next Generation (yeah, I'm a nerd) and the episode opened with the crew on the
holodeck where they were re-enacting
Cyrano, and it got me thinking about the future and what they would revere as classics -- and that gave me a small
panic attack. What if the future was nothing like the quasi-
utopia that
Gene Roddenberry envisioned, but a semi-
dystopia spawned from the mind of the
"average" person where masterpieces of literature as we know them are replaced by
pop-fiction and the heroes of tomorrow re-enact scenes from
Twilight?
